CITEM Chooses PCEPSDI as PINES Technical Working Group Member

In lieu with the upcoming 1st Philippine International Eco Show (PINES) which will be held at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City on August 26-28, 2010, the Philippine Center for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development (PCEPSD) was invited by the Center of International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), the organizer of the said event, to be one of the members of the PINES Awards Technical Working Group. This group will be responsible for setting criteria as well as evaluating the participants for the six major awards.

The PINES Award is a recognition given to various companies and organizations in the Philippines that have integrated and institutionalized green initiatives in their corporate and organizational practices. This award, given by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through CITEM, will further highlight the country's most innovative environmental products and services in order to promote the country's position as the emerging source of eco-friendly products and services in the Asia Pacific Region.

The 1st PINES Award was conceptualized and integrated to highlight the best of the Philippine green industry. Also, it aims to promote the importance of green business and the stakeholders' participation for the protection and conservation of the environment. This act was based on the country's commitment to the global effort to protect the environment and achieve a sustainable economic model.

The PINES Award includes the following categories:

The three-day eco-show will be composed of back-to-back exhibition, conference, and special events. Aside from the PINES Awards, special events will also include two additional activities: the Eco-Photography Tilt, a photography contest open to all amateur and professional photographers, and the Eco-Business Tour, an activity for foreign buyers and media which will emphasize the Philippines' existing green industry, initiatives and good environmental practices of both public and private firms. The PINES Awards will be given on August 27, 2010 at the stage area of the exhibition hall.
